So after finishing the inca trail in one piece it was time to leave peru and make our way to chile. We only had 3 days to make it to santiago in time for our flight to fiji and the bus journey was over 50hours. On arrival at the tacna bus terminal we had to get a collectivo (shared car) across the border to arica where we would pick up another bus to santiago. However not everything went according to plan. At the border control it appeared our passports hadnt been stamped on entry into peru. Apparenlty this happens alot as it is a way for tourists to have to hand over cash. Jen and I had very little money on us and refused to pay to bribe the guys at border control so after a very heated argument in my very broken spanish it appeared we would have to return to tacna and find the immigration office. The collectivo kicked us out and we had to pay for transport back to tacna. About 4 hours later we were back at border control and were let through and managed to get a later bus to take us to santiago...lets just say it was not the best morning ive ever had!!
