Got another 5 hour bus which took us to the cameron highlands. The jungle environment was quite similar to rurrenbaque in bolivia and it was great to get out of the city and into the mountains again. Dave, Marcus and I wandered around the town and randomly found a guitar for 13 quid (90 ringets) and tried to barter the seller down. It went something like this:
Dave: We only have 70 ringets for the guitar.
Seller: I think you have trouble understanding english...its 90 ringets.
Needless to say we bought the guitar anyway and named him bart (in memory of the worst bartering ever!!) Have also made up some great travelling tunes....
The next day we decided to walk the 5 hour jungle trek to the boh tea plantation. It was stinking hot and after getting lost and trekking uphill for a few hours (the inca trail sprang to mind) we arrived at the plantation. After lots of tea and cake and some truely amazing photographic skills we tried to call a taxi to get us back to town. Apparently there are only 2 taxis in the town in total (and none were available) so completely exhausted we set off for the 5 hour road trek home. Decided to hitch-hike (it was safe as 3 of us) and a lovely singaporean family picked us up and saved the day by dropping us in town...there truely is a god!!!Â
