Wow what can I say...fiji is absolute paradise. On arrival at nadi we booked a 7 day tour with awesome adventures called 'ultimate lei'. Met some girls in the booking office who advised us to change some of the islands you can hop to and so we took their advice. We boarded the boat that takes you to your islands and met some others on our tour - bugs and freddo and the two canadians jess and carly not knowing we would all become such good friends. Our first stop was tavewa where we went swimming in the underwater sawailau caves (i got bitten by a creature) and then walked to the blue lagoon (where blue lagoon was filmed). Every day we moved to another stunning island making the most of the sunbathing, snorkelling, canoes and fijian beer and every day the fijians would sing the bula (hello and welcome) song on arrival. Its probably at this point i should tell you about the other fijian tradition which is to drink kava after dinner. It tastes like mud and looks like dirty dishwater and is apparently a muscle relaxant so after a couple of coconut shells full you look like you're stoned. Anyway the fijians believe it is necessary to present the kava daily in a ceremony to the ancient spirits of the land and in return they can use the land in peace....apparently people have been known to disappear without trace when a kava ceremony hasnt been performed...
