OK!
Finally another post. Sorry I haven't been updating this very well, but man, 5 countries in the space of 1 week is ridiculous. I mean its been a blast, but now I'm enjoying sitting back in my room on my own in a hostel and just chilling out all day.
At last though, a chance to reflect on everything that has happened.
Lets start from the beginning I guess.
London
My first day out of Australia. London was amazing. Absolutely Beautiful even though it was freezing. In fact I am currently in Prague and the temperature is about the same as it was in London, however London cold has this bite that just tears your bones to shreds!
Still me and Stu walked around all day and saw some cool things. There was snow everywhere pretty much. It was very pretty. However we walked around a little too much, as we had to sprint back to the hostel, then to the train station, then to the bus station, then to our flight which was boarding as we arrived. Man... Never again! lol. Almost missed the flight but we got to Spain OK! Just! lol
I was already over travelling though I have to say. 36 hours in Transit to London, then another couple of hours, about 4 of travelling until we finally arrived at our hostel in Barcelona.
Barcelona
Mind you, we couldn't actually find our hostel at first and we had to ask the locals who didn't really speak english where the street was we were looking for. Turns out we found it on our own luckily by calling the hostel.
The people in the hostels have been amazing. The beds were better in Barcelona than London, but the showers a little worse. When we arrived in Barcelona at Hostel 1 (name of hostel), we walked into the kitchen and ended up meeting 4 aussies and sat there all night drinking with them. It was fantastic! So far I've barely met any other people other than aussies, lol. All from melb and sydney. So funny.
Funny enough, 2 of the aussies we met that night we would meet again in Rome, which I will tell later on.
So, We woke up in Barcelona! There was a lot of walking involved around Barcelona, and we saw many very cool places. However, although I have never really been that big into food, when I met up with my Cousin lauren (Who i had never met b4! lol) we went and had what spanish call Tapa's - which means you basically get a bunch of small things off their menu and everyone picks at stuff for dinner and lunch. Let me tell you, fkin delicious! I was amazed! I now want to try all the different foods each culture has to offer.
The next day we went out to a club where they have Flamanco dancers. Amazing also. I met two American girls that day and we went there together, with the intention on going out later. However we ended up just drinking at the hostel, which was still good.
The main reason for this was, the metro had shut down b4 we got a chance to go out. And walking around the streets at night time in Barcelona isn't recommended. You def dont feel safe there. However, we went and bought a bottle of gin (were looking for vodka). And it was soooo much fun talking to this guy who couldn't speak english. We were trying to tell him what we wanted and well, it wasn't working. But he was so pleasant and comical. Had so much fun.
I love the spanish language. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a short course to learn it. So far its my fav language.
The next day, I struggled a little. Got pretty drunk and had to get up early to check out. In fact, I've done that way too often. Can't help but have a few drinks everynight over here cause you're always meeting people! lol
In any case me and stu walked around, and I got to see a bit of disney land mixed with jesus at some temple kinda place. I also shuffled at the top of it :D I'll upload that video at sum stage.
The one downer about spain, is we missed our bus to the airport by like 2 seconds. The bus driver just wouldn't wait 1 min for us why we collected our tickets from their office. Fkin bulls***! So we had to catch a taxi which cost 130EU! such a fkin joke. But all is good.
The next stop was Rome.
Rome
So we arrived in Rome and funnily enough, the customs office wasn't open so I just walked straight on through without getting anything checked :D Lucky because I was carrying weapons... jks. Still it was a little weird and reckless on Rome's behalf.
We arrive at Rome during the night so pretty much once we reached our hostel we went to bed. It was a hostel with 3 bunks, and every bed was filled up. Someone was already asleep when we go there, but she woke up. She was yet another australian! lol.
The next day we had a bit of a sleep in. This day I got to walk in the Colosseum. A pretty incredible piece of stone. Mainly you get off thinking about the history behind these places. Standing in there dreaming about gladiators fighting right in front of you. And I tell you, from where we were standing at one point, you would have seen every little slash n spray of blood! Gruesome to think that people got enjoyment out of watching people's gut spray all over the place. My guess is that if these kinds of things were going today, people would still enjoy it... sadness.
In any case!
We were going to see the Roman Forum but we were running late to get to an Art Gallery that Stu had booked. We caught the metro train line down. Now let me say, in every country I've been in so far, I keep thinking I'm really lucky with catching the trains, because you always get there when its just about to arrive. The fact is, theres a train every 5 minutes! lol. Very cool.
The Art gallery was amazing. I didn't care much for the paintings, but the sculptures were incredible. Your not suppose to take pics and we had to give up camera's before we could go in, however, my phone has a camera, and I got just a couple of shots of some crazy statues. Art Gallery's aint really my thing, but still, it was definitely a worth while experience. Especially when you look up at the ceiling and notice the whole thing is covered in art work. There is practically no spot without some kinda crazy interior design or actual painted art work. Really kinda mind blowing.
After that, it was getting pretty late, and I had started to develop a cold, damnit, still have it in fact, but its not so bad, just gotta push through it. We headed back to the hostel, and who did we see? The guys we drank with on our first night in Barcelona! Dominique and Tim! They were hungry and so were we, so we went to a place down the road from the hostel to eat. We ended up chatting away to them for a long time, and found we all had similar music tastes. After that we all got drunk at the hostel and needless to say, I didn't sleep that night!
Walking around Rome without any sleep was a mission, but it was still good. I saw some crazy fountain, and let me tell you, Rome has so many attractions it is ridiculous! So many ancient old things.
Oh I forgot, another girl who was in our hostel travelled with us this day. Her name was Lauren. Cool chick. She was a lot of fun. We all went to the Vatican together. Ok so, the vatican, let me tell you... f*** ME! Most incredible man made thing I've ever seen. For starters its a very cool place just to hang out when your in the middle of it, but when you go inside the museum kinda area, you get wow factored in the face even more! Imagine 50 basketball courts put together, and then imagine the inside is about 4 to 7 stories high, then imagine that every square inch of it is covered in art work, and gold, and statues, and wow, just wow. It is a must see b4 you die. The amount of time and money that musta gone into building something like that blows me away.
After the vatican we tried to get down to the roman forum but it was closed, but we saw our aussie friends again.
I forgot to say, on that drinking night, it was decided that I will change my plans and head to Germany Berlin on the 22nd with them and stay with them through Amsterdam :D I made some travel buddies! Woo! Could this also be a holiday romance? maybe if im lucky :P
We had to leave Rome soon so we made sure were at the airport nice and early, however, no sleep caught up with me and I was possibly seen to be singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow as we were waiting for our flight to board...
We got into Prague, snow everywhere, but to tired to care, I slept for a long time.
In prague now and 2 nights ago just before I was about to go to sleep, a German couple, the guy 26 and the girl 20 came into my room. We hit it off really well straight away, talking about our experiences and we ended up going out all night and partying :D Drum n Bass is hard to shuffle to unfortunately, but still was a great night.
I'll update more tomorrow :D In a new post.
