Back in Denmark...
Well I made the LONG trip back to Denmark (18 hours on the train stopping at Munich and Hamburg before arriving in Copenhagen). It was nice to be back here again, it is my second home after all. Anyways so I went to Martin's place to have dinner and drop off my big backpack and then I was off that same night to Malmo to meet up with Max! I spent a day in Malmo where Max took me around the city and we saw the Turning Torso and played in the spaceship playground near the Torso. But man it was so bloody cold! I'm definitely not a Winter person, missing the good hot Summer from home. Anyways, Malmo is a beautiful city (and only half an hour from Copenhagen) with nice little streets and sitting right on the water. Would be nice to go there in the Summer. Max and I did a little catching up and then chilled out the rest of the day watching a movie with a coffee and cookies (inside was nice and warm).
My trip to Denmark was very quick and was only for a week. Trying to catch up with some friends from Ollerup before departing to go back home. So I caught up with Pernille when I arrived back in Copenhagen and we had our usual China Box (but we were in a restaurant so it was a China plate instead). Anyways it was so lovely to catch up with her and telling her about all my travels and then her plans to TRAVEL next year!!! I am so jealous, she is going to spend Chinese New Year in China! It is going to be so amazing! Anywho the next day I took a trip to Aarhus to see some Ollerup students living there. I stayed with Lise (my roomie in first semester) and Henning and Camilla. Oh and it was pouring down with rain, yes not pretty weather. Once again a nice catch up as I hadn't seen them since the end of Ollerup (beginning of July). Later caught up with Nina and Toke at a pub called Sherlock Holmes where we had a drink. Was so nice to see everyone again after a couple of months, just to hear what they have been up to and also hearing about the other students too. A lot of the students have found a place together or are in the same gym teams so they get to keep in touch well. Breakfast at Toke's was lovely and once again seeing more Ollerup students that he lives with. Then it was the train ride back to school, yeps back to Ollerup for a couple of days to see it one last time and also to pick up my suitcase that I had left there.
Once again was great to be back there and catching up with the teachers and being "home" again. But the funny thing is, I didn't feel "home". I felt like I was invading the school because there are new students there for this semester and none of the old students or my "family" were there. So weird, but I knew some of the international students so was nice to catch up and hear what they thought of Ollerup so far. They all enjoyed it, how can you not??? So I had to repack my suitcase and see if there was anything I could throw out... hmmm... let's just say I threw very little out, everything else I had to keep! Anyways had my final night out in Svendborg and went to the usual Børsen and it was also J-day so the Christmas beer was released. We all got a free beer and Christmas hats and flashy badges... it was fun.
Stopped by to visit Rikke on my way back to Copenhagen. My roomie from the Spring semester. Was really great to see her and catch up on the last few months. That evening went to a bar called Bang og Jensen for some drinks and just to catch up with a few friends from Copenhagen. Was a great and cosy bar except for the bar tender who took my half drunken mojito cos I went out to grab some food but my other friends were still sitting at the table... meh! Anyways it was a beautiful but cold night and a late one too... but I did not get wasted... I was a good girl =p My last night in Copenhagen before flying out consisted of me cooking a Vietnamese dish called rice paper rolls or Vietnamese spring rolls for Martin, Lotte, Pernille, Hugo and Raphael. It was a great success. We enjoyed it with a Slovenian strawberry vodka! haha Max joined us afterwards for drinks. It was so nice to be there with my great friends, enjoying the last night in my second home country. But you know it didn't feel like I was going to leave the next day, so did not sink in.
The day I was leaving it was pouring down like there was no tomorrow. Not only was it wet it was also freezing! I had a huge umbrella but still managed to get soaked cos the wind was blowing the rain onto me! Anyways did some last minute souvenir shopping and then caught up with Hugo one last time at the most international restaurant ever... McDonalds =p We said that it didn't feel like this would be the last time we would see each other and so it didn't really feel like a real goodbye and yes it was sad to leave but it wasn't so bad cos I did have the feeling that we would see each other sooner rather than later. Hopefully next year! So I finalised my packing and ended up with 2 bags... my suitcase of 23kg and my backpack of 16kg. Martin took me to the airport by 4pm and I checked everything in and had to pay for the one extra bag but it didn't cost too much which was good. It didn't feel like it was going home even though I was at the airport, still hadn't sunken in yet. It just felt like I was heading somewhere else, continuing my European travels! Pernille, Max and Ole came to the airport to see me off. It was so nice and lovely, I couldn't have asked for anything more, you guys are just wonderful and I'm so going to miss you all dearly. But like I said bout Hugo I knew I would see them all again =)
My trip to Denmark (and more) was the most amazing time of my life. The experiences I gained and everything I learnt along the way really opened up my mind and I felt like I really grew as a person. But the most amazing thing about this trip were the friends I made along the way. Friends from ALL over the world that I know will be my friends for life! Thank you all for making my trip so special and memorable. Love you guys! xoxo
