Sleep in today, not up until 6:30am. Again woken up with a cup of coca tea and bowl of warm water to freshen up with. Felt the cold a little bit last night, rained throughout night again but stayed dry in tent.
The view is magical, watched the sun come out over the snow capped mountains and the air so pure and fresh, one almost forgot all the aches and pains.
Breakfast and we on our way, today is inca flats and then downhill, 3000 steps downhill apparently (should be good for the old knees...NOT). Not sure if I mentioned this before but Peruvian's obviously do not understand the word flat as what they called Inca flats was like Hamilton Island on steroids.
Going down was a bit treacherous as was raining on and off and paths are narrow in some areas with very long drop offs and is smooth stone. The steps are varying heights and widths. 10minutes out form camp we stopped and chilled for an hour just soaking up the beauty of the mountains surrounding us, also there were 3 llamas hanging out eating and snoozing. There eyes are so big and beautiful. We started at 3600m/11800ft and walked down to 2680m/8792ft which is where we camped for the night.
Winay Huayna ruins was a 5 minute walk from our campsite, so spent a couple of hours exploring it. Of cause it was on the side of a mountain and there ridiculous amounts of stairs to go all the way down, only here once so took a deep breath walked every inch of it.
Dinner early as we getting up at 3am to get to checkpoint to enter Macchu Picchu. Our guide told us tonight that the fellow who was taken back on first day may not live.
