13 hour bus trip from La Paz to Cusco, we experienced what is called 'thundersnow' a weather phenomenon featuring the unusual combination of snow, lightning and thunder. Some of the lightning struck so close, blindingly bright.
Border crossing was a case of get exit stamp from Bolivia, then walk across bridge and get entry into Peru.
Arrived Cusco 4am, got to hotel and we checked in straight away plus given coffee, all we expected was to store our bags and perhaps sit in reception area until something opened in town. Then they took our breakfast order and asked what time we would like it and where would we like to have it. 7am on the dot knocking on our door with hot breakfast, loving this place!
Okay, so I having no issues with altitude sickness but definitely noticed that my food intake has increased dramatically!! Is all going somewhere just not sure where, eating and snacking constantly.
Plan is to dine on guinea pig and alpaca while here. Tonight had veal with fried eggs, spicy tomato salsa, fried bananas and yucca fries - very tasty.
Our hotel is located up a long hill, definitely working out the soreness from bike ride.
