Early start to visit the Argentinian side of the Iguazu Falls - magnificent!! The sheer size and power of these falls is something that needs to be seen, I could feel the mist of spray off the falls before I could actually see them. The falls are bordered by 3 countries - argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
There are 270 individual falls during wet season and a minimum 150 in dry season. The falling area is 2700 square metres, and water volume flow reaches 6500 cubic metres per second. The roar is so loud when standing near some that we were virtually shouting to hear one another. The largest of the falls is Devil's Throat which is 90 metres high. In total we covered just over 8km along various trails above the falls and at base of falls (lots of stairs).
Then we caught the small ferry across to San Martin Island which sits in the middle, the views were fantastic panorama of the falls (excluding Devils Throat). The rough stone steps to the top of Island equates to a 12 storey building, the trail within dense rainforest - it was particularly warm, worked up a serious sweat.
