This is really a great to see happening Japan. You win the green award hands down. This I am holding is a pamplet with divides for each section of waste removal. It is quite a procedure to get used to at first. It felt so odd to be washing one's waste before throwing in the trash. Then, one would have to stand at the six different bins where we have pasted a simplified chart, to work out which waste bin this piece of trash belongs in. Most of the waste is marked indicating the bin, however this can be a process and a half to locate and then to read, and various signs do mean the same waste bin. At first a real pain, but once you have gotten the hang of it, a week down the line, it really becomes second nature. Each day of the week is a different waste recycling/disposal day, which is collected from a central point in each suburb. So, a little 100m walk down the road for us, to a cage of sorts, which is kept superbly clean and waste may only be placed in the trash on the morning of collection.
