Now in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile.
Left at 6am so a very early start! It was a long journey. Tried to sleep but there were so many bends in the road that it was impossible to! But wow, this has to be the journey with the most amazing scenery I've ever been on. At first we went in between mountains, then through salt flats briefly before the desert.
It was a comfortable bus and we were provided food. Biscuits for breakfast (how healthy! - I was glad I had my own breakfast!) and a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.
We stopped at the passport control and wow it was very very windy! It was pretty much in the middle of the desert. The security guards had to keep bolting the door closed every time someone went in or out as the wind was so strong that it blew the doors open and would blow papers away!
It took ages of course as there were so many people on the bus. First we had to queue up to get our Argentina exit stamp, queue up again to get our Chile entry stamp and then collect our bags and queue up to put them through a X-ray machine. It felt like forever! But it was good to stretch our legs and go to the toilet after travelling for about 8 hours non stop! Of course I refused to go to the toilet on the bus!
Finally arrived at the hostel 11 hours after leaving our hotel in Salta.
It's warm in the day and freezing at night so definitely have to bring extra clothes!
Walked around before going for dinner. It's a very small town. So different from anywhere I've been.
Off to bed early as so tired! Didn't sleep well last night for some reason so hopefully tonight will be better!
Going on a bike ride and then sandboarding tomorrow! Can't wait :D
