What an interesting day!
Had the best night's sleep in ages, the bed was so so comfortable! I look forward to sleeping here for 2 more nights!
Breakfast was the best I've had in ages too! Finally they had some decent cereal! Have really missed having cereal. Going to make the most of it while I can!
Was ready before 9am to be picked up for the full day tour. Waited for ages, and they still hadn't turned up by half 9! Was getting worried so asked reception to check up on them for me. They were on their way. They finally arrived; 40 minutes late! Turns out that one couple overslept, holding everything up!
The guide for the day was an Andy Murray lookalike! I couldn't believe how much he looked like him! A lot more smiley though!
There was this man that reminded me of Onslow from Keeping up Appearances. A little less scruffy though! He wore a t-shirt instead of a vest :p
Most of the group spoke Spanish, I think most of them were from Chile. Only me and two older Australian couples spoke English. So the man had to repeat everything in English after speaking Spanish! A lot of talking for him!
It started off pouring with rain whilst we were driving to Akahanga, our first place. Luckily it stopped just as we arrived and the sun came out, phew!
Went to the Rapa Nui National Park, and I obviously missed out information being said on the bus so I didn't get to buy my ticket! Luckily I got in anyway and will have to buy it tomorrow before entering Orongo.
Had lunch after looking around. Visited more places afterwards, Ahu Tongariki (photo), Te Pito Kura and Anakena. I'm sure there was more but I can't remember lol!!
Anakena is a white sand beach with some Moai around. It was getting colder and more cloudy but I forced myself to swim in the sea for a bit as I probably will never come back here again so didn't want to miss out on the chance on swimming in the Pacific in Easter Island! Got used to it quickly so it wasn't too bad.
Got back to the hotel and sorted out my laundry for the hotel to wash for me. Got so much to wash! One of the problems of backpacking, not being able to bring lots of clothes!
Went out for dinner. The main street is so small! Can walk from one end to the other in about 2/3 mins! Went by taxi as it was too dark to walk. Asked him to pick me up 2 hours later. When I finished my dinner I decided to walk for a bit and see what the shops were like. Turn went into a shop to buy more shampoo and conditioner. When I stepped out there was this weird man following me, so I thought. Looked around and realised it was my taxi driver! H had saw me walking and thought I would like to be picked up. It was 45 mins too early but jumped in the taxi anyway. Will have time to explore more tomorrow lunchtime anyway.
Tried the Moai chocolate when I got back, it wasn't bad. Nothing beats chocolate back home though!
Looking forward to a comfortable bed! And to seeing more tomorrow too :D
