Sunday 15 June - Ullapool to Inverness and Oban
It's Sunday and our week travelling together is coming to a close, as Kelly has to fly back to London today. We have our homemade breakfast in the sun lounge of Croft Cottage enjoying the little bit of sun peeking between the clouds and enjoying the scene of the sheep and chickens in the pasture. Croft Cottage and our hosts, John & Julian, has been the most loveliest of our stays.
We drove from Ullapool to Inverness chatting about all sorts of things including all the wonderful adventures and sights we have experienced over the last week. I felt a little emotional this morning leaving Croft Cottage, think I'm also missing my beautiful Harvey.
I dropped Kelly at the airport just after midday and headed into the big shopping centre in Inverness where I meet up with the wonderful Katrina. We had a big hug and headed off for some lunch. It was so lovely to connect.
Unfortunately I had to leave so that I could get down to Oban and check into my accommodation before it got too late. The drive was smooth with only a little bit of rain here and there, and good roads. Plenty of beautiful views down the coast through Fort Augustus and Fort William, but no time to stop if I wanted to be in Oban before 6pm.
I made it to Sandvilla Guesthouse just a couple of minutes before 6pm, checked in, unloaded my luggage and then moved my car to the reserved parking at the back of the terrace. After a long day I headed out to explore Oban. It's nice here but the town doesn't really connect with me. I meandered the harbour, checked out a couple of shops still open, then found a very busy fish and chip shop for a small dinner. I sat next to a women who was sitting by herself and we struck up a conversation. She's from Hong Kong and has been travelling solo, doing tours and a retreat for the last two weeks with another couple to go. We had some lovely conversations about travel, our love of bumblebees and being introverts! After I'd finished my meal, we went our separate ways appreciative of the connection.
