Monday 16 June -Oban, Glencoe & Glenfinnan Viaduct
It's a grey and rainy day. The light rain persisted for most of the day with a little gap in the late afternoon. However, I still headed out in the morning up to Glencoe driving back along the Argyll Coast.
Glencoe is small and I went to the Visitor Information Centre. It was really busy with loads of grey nomads from around the world. I wasn't drawn to do any walks here in the rain, so I continued back up north to Glenfinnan and the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct. The Viaduct was made famous by the Harry Potter movies.
There were also plenty of people here too in the light rain - the weather doesn't stop us over here. The River Finnan was full and fast flowing as I crossed over the footbridge towards the Viaduct. I stopped at several places to take photos, including at the top viewing point, then continued on in the persistent rain to complete a circular loop that looked over Loch Shiel. The views were moody through the low clouds and light rain, and before I knew it my cargo pants were soaked, but my feet remained dry in my boots and the rain-shell kept the rest of me dry (ever so grateful Kerry).
Back at the parking and visitor centre I hoped to pick up something to eat but the café was closed (it was only just 2pm), so I sat in the car eating a few snacks I had with me. On my way back to Oban, I stopped in Fort William to go to the Mountain Warehouse store where I picked up a t-shirt and a hoodie (the jumpers I have are a little heavy/warm). I also stopped briefly at the viewing point in Appin looking over the water to the mountains.
By the time I returned to Sandvilla Guesthouse just before 5pm, my cargo pants were almost dry as was the rain-shell. However, it was nice to change and just hang out in my tiny room. I popped out at about 6:30pm and had some Chinese for dinner
