We slept in until 10am and enjoyed a late breakfast of oats. Garth went into town with Everall to fix the water pipe for the shower whilst I had a lovely chat in the kitchen with Bron and Aunty Marrion.
When the boys got back I enjoyed sitting in the sun in the garden. It's amazing how cold it is inside the house and how pleasant it is out in the sun! The 2 sheep dogs kept bringing a pine cone to my feet which I kicked and they chased! I read some of bron's country home magazines and lusted after the houses!
We then took a road trip to a local farmers near the river called Karen And Charles. Their house was huge and lovely! We enjoyed coffee and a walk down to the river past some porcupine needles. The river was really beautiful. It is the river where they go tubing at Christmas.
We then drove further down the road to the next farm along the river where we had a cup of tea down by the river at the canoe house overlooking the river which was beautiful! The river was apparently very low compared to the summer but was an oasis in the dry nothing around! We were above the dogs running around and there was huge soft great Dane and another golden retriever which loved playing with little Jackson. Jackson even managed to scramble up the concrete a few times to get away lol!
Everyone was speaking in Afrikaans which was a bit crazy!
We met the farmers son and family and then walked back up to the house for a braai which didn't happen until about 7.30pm by which time we were very hungry as we hadn't had lunch. The men sat with beers watching the cricket whilst the ladies sat in the sun room with beers. They spoke mostly in English for my sakes but rosemary would drop back into Afrikaans.
When the sun went down it for very cold and we joined the men by the fire for more beers where Garth and everall had a heated discussion about viruses on macs! We eventually say down for a very yummy dinner at a beautiful long dining room table.
After dinner we sat back by the fire and Charles read us some love letters from his uncles great great grandfather from 1856 which were so poetic and beautiful!
We left at about 9pm very tired ABD Garth drove back as he was the only one who hadn't drunk. The dust roads were completely empty apart from lots of animals! One hare ran in front of the car for a good mile and we even saw a huge wild aardvark.
We struggled to sleep so watched the episode of game of thrones with the red wedding!!! :o
