I have now stayed two nights here in Hue. Tomorrow morning I plan to continue south towards Danang. I plan to stop overnight in between Hue and Danang as there is a almost 500 m high pass couple of tens of kilometers before Danang to climb.

I have really found out here that "bicycle service" is totally unknown concept here in Vietnam. The bicycle repairmen see that bike moves, and they think that it is OK. Because we do not have common language it has been impossible to explain that I would want some preventive maintenance for my bike. Apparently I have to ride until it does not move any more. Then somebody will repair it for me.

As this has been a rest break for me I have not been sight-seeing here at all. I am fairly confident that I will be in Vietnam another time and that time I can concentrate on sights. Now I am more focusing on "first impression".

Hue is a really touristic place, but as it is not the peak season there is a lot of overcapacity on all kinds of tourist services at the moment. It makes it easy to find whatever type of food one wishes to have. Over these two days I have had Italian, French and Indian food in addition to some Vietnamese. It means also that I can not really go out for a walk because there are bicycle and motorcycle taxis everywhere trying to get me in all the time. They also offer various additional services, especially in the evening. Luckily restaurants and shops do not have as active in-throwers as in some other countries.
