So... had a lazy morning... got up, packed our stuff and left the hotel... went for breakfast. Then got a taxi over to Ho Chi Minh airport for the flight to Danang!
Flight was great... an hour and we were there. Decided when there that we wanted to head to Hoi An straight away so we got a taxi into town (I'd wanted to walk... Tom didn't!!). We intended to find a bus to Hoi An but our taxi driver maintained they wouldn't be running cos of New Year... we didn't belive him, despite his offer to drive us there! Having gotten out we saw that the buses were running... we then took another taxi to where we were told was a bus station (no buses arrived!) before getting thoroughly pissed off and hailing yet another taxi to take us there!!! Nightmare!! Wasn't helped by there being nobody in Danang who spoke English... and mine and Tom's Vietnamese is some way short of conversational!!!!
So, arrived in Hoi An late (about 8pm)... spent the best part of an hour looking for somewhere to stay as everywhere was full! Eventually got a room and headed out for some dinner! Hoi An- amazing!! Beautiful bridges and lanterns... a really picturesque little town! A few beers and a few games of pool later, we headed back!
Next day we awoke and had a stroll around the town in daylight... spectacular river! Speaking of which... we then took a boat ride on the river for an hour which was a nice change of pace (Lambert loved it... a little too much!). Then we headed back to book our bus ticket to Hue!
Next was a strange turn of events!! We were stopped on our walk home by a loud, brash Kiwi fella- "free beers lads?? you want a free beer" (imagine the accent!). This fella and a few dudes were sat around having a drink (the premise was for a bicycle tour they Kiwi (Dave) and his Vietnamese mate (Tung) ran). Despite telling them we'd just booked our tickets out of there and couldn't come, we stayed for then next three hours!! Banter-aplenty, we left the Man-Forum and headed out!! GREAT times!!
