We finally get off the train, walk into Da nang and the first thing we think of is it is hot! We are lugging around way too much and we start to sweat within seconds. Finally, we find a taxi which took way longer than expected because usually they swarm us. Either way, we finally are on our way to our hotel. We had heard we were paying a little more than usual so we expected a lot. We walked in and got the first room in the hotel. We open our door and the first thing we think of again is it is hot! Our AC didn't work and we all started freaking out because we had been sweating and traveling for seven hours. We finally got it fixed after forty five minutes. By then we were ready to go eat. We found our driver outside waiting, which was courtesy of TV's mom's connections in this great city. Our driver sees TV and I walk out and at about the same time he picks up the phone and leaves. We went inside to tell Susie and she said the driver called and said he was going to change cars. We walk outside to the new car ten minutes later to see a blacked out four door SUV. TV and I open the doors to blaring great dub step music. Three TVs fill the car with a colorful music video showing Flo Rida singing "Whistle" with a good dub twist. TV and I flip out, this car was amazing. Of course when TVs mom comes out she makes the driver turn down the bumpin' jams.
We were cruising in style to our first destination which was to TV's mothers old maids buisness. We finally stopped and exited the pimp my ride car and walked into the buisness. There we met the woman who had taken care of TV's mom so long ago. She was very old but still busting with life. We all sat around talking, I of course listening to what seemed to be two minions from despicible me catch up after a long separation. However even I could tell how happy TV's mom and her old friend were to finally reunite. After a long talk we decided to go into the market. This was my first Vietnamese market and I was excited to see all the wonderful secrets held inside. Sadly I was dissapointed to find that half the market was smelly dried fish and the other half was women's apparel; it was going to be a long day. TV was looking for an Ao Dai and there were more than enough choices. We walked through the jungle of silk like we were Ponce De Leon looking for the fountain of youth.Next time I'll remember to bring a machette. While pushing through all the fabric we had to fight off all the women trying to drag you into buy their designs. After more hours than I could count we left defeated. We had somehow found nothing. We jumped back into our ride and headed off to see more family. We met a old couple and there child who was in her late thirties. As we walked up and yelled through the metal gate to get let in TV's mom gave us one bit of advice. "The younger lady is a little crazy so if she screams at you just smile and act like nothing is happening....." Oh ok, lets get started then. After ten minutes of watching the old married lady try to open the deadbolt to the gate like it was a safe from the Italian Job we entered the house. We met all three people and to our suprise we didn't get yelled at. We stayed around and talked as much as we did with the first lady. It was very interesting to be in a home of an actual Vietnamese citizen. It showed real insight into how they lived.

Susan Smelly fish or women's fabric, quite a toss up of what to do. Is there you bought your tailored jacket material? Very cool visiting Susie's childhood friend (maid) after so many years. I can only imagine how their lives have changed since then.
Dyl No that is not where we bought it. TV's mom has been back since but I still think it was a big deaL
