So after and a bit of nothing we decided to go out after the midday heat and head for the river.
Back in the horse & cart as we clip along the road to old Bagan. After stopping for a drink along the way we get on the rickety old boat that we thought would be full of tourists that turns out to be just us two! Aww how romantic!!
We followed the coast watching life go by then headed out to the middle of the river to watch the sun go down. It was great, shame the clouds got in the way of a perfect sunset but hey I'm sure we'll see plenty of them along the way. It was so peaceful though so Sy and I just took the time to watch the sun go by as we had another early bus tomorrow to catch.
We returned to shore all relaxed an headed off to meet Sandy & David. We met them in the previous hotel & we were having a farewell meal today at the restaurant round the corner from us both. Their tales of travel in some of the worlds furthest corners have had us in awe over the last couple of days!! Their advise has been great & it was a lovely meal.
Another 5:30 alarm call and off in another pick up to meet the bus then onto Kalaw. We were a bit gutted as the purpose of going to Kalaw was to meet a trek group that took 3 days walking to Inle Lake. That was not something Sy or I could so in our current state of burntness but wanted to check the town out anyway.
It was founded by the British after the 2nd world war as a hilltop station and it a small town in amongst the stunning mountain scenery at 3000 feet above sea level. So not massively high up but probably the highest I've been so far!
We just bimbled, ate, drunk & people watched. Bit cooler up here and it was actually nice to put on my fleece & for us both it was a bit if respite from the heat so far.
Moving on again tomorrow so a fairly easy night.
