swisstoni's livin the dream!!!!
We (me and joel) arrived in the jungle yesterday and went straight to the pub....3quid for half a beer!!!! Then decided to book a night safari thing....this meant you sat in the back of a jeep while a guy shone a big tourch about to scare animals so they would stop in their track so you can have a butchersat them.....we got to see a barn owl, a sparrow, centipede, leopard cat, palm cevic and a monkey...it was definately worth the 5 quid we spent!! couldn't believe it...all this way to see a poxy sparrow!!! I think the best part of it was that i got to sit on the roof of the jeep the whole way!!
Today we decided to go and do the canopy walk....but on our own without a guide....we managed to find it ok....then we got on the bloody thing....just a bit scary, a rickety old bridge 45 meters high....we were above the trees. I was alright if i didn't look down.....also we had some fat guy infront of us walking along it as if he had just heard there was free food being given out at mcDonalds....he was pissing us right off......it was bad enough walking across it without him making it bounce about and swing!!! We got off it alve so that was cool, although i think Joel had a few dodgy moments....he was white as a ghost on some parts....then got worse when he heard me asking one of the guys who worked on it if it had ever broken...."piss of toni" is what i heard i think!!
Then we though we would walk up the hill to see the view, which was actually really nice. It went down hill from there.....i think we must have gone a different way to everyone else coz we managed to get lost in the jungle for about 6 hours!!! We had no food, water...NOTHING!!! and the leeches were eaten us alive. We managed to find the river and thought about waiting for a boat to pass, but that could be hours....just as we walked off we heard one so i legged it down screaming that we were lost. They came over and we asked if we could get in and the cheeky b*****s said no coz it was full......but they did tell us it was about an hours walk back to where we needed to be.....the opposite direction to where were originally going. by this point we were exhausted, dehydrated and starving....a couple of the women on the boat gave us some water and there left over rice which had been sweating in plastic containers.....we didn't give a s*** and shovelled it in with our hands!!! Then made the rest of the journey back which took over an hour!!! We really didn't thin it would ever end......but in the far distance we could see the bar and knew that we would be ok....beer all round!!!......but we did learn a few things today....1) a small bottle of water is not enough 2) We hate the jungle 3) we would much rather be on a beach....and 4) we are a couple of w*nkers!!! Only us could get lost in the oldest jungle in the world!!! But as we both said, atleast we have a story to tell!!
