Hellooooo everyone, once again! were finally out of the jungle/hilltribes so we have electricity!!! done so much since the last update, cant really remember everything! we got to Chang Mai after the over night train which was eventful! i had a nice comfy bottom bunk...alan got to squish in the top haha! he wanted the top...(?) the elephants were amazing, really wierd to see them up close, ours was huge and called ? we forgot! kat and jill had the baby elephant soo cute! and they lift their trunks up for us to feed them! Alan went climbing in Chang Mai which he was bloody fantastic at (apparantly) but was alot of hardwork...SOMEONE forgot to spray insect repellent on their back and got covered in 22 bites!!!!it hurt!!! silly boy.... Emily went Thai cooking.. yes mother i am becoming a domestic godess! (?) well sort of... a lady boy took the class called wah wah she was fab! and then i went BUNJEE JUMPING! was amazing the scariest thing i have ever done but soooo worth it! 50 metres high! after all this we headed for the hills for the 3 day treck! OH MY GOD this was the hardest thing in the world for Emily serious uphill walking with a pack on! wow i nearly cried many a times and alan had to push me up when my legs gave way! but we did it!!!! Alan found it alot easier then me but hey... we met 3 tribes Akha, Lisu and a chinese one? but we didnt really meet them, we had mats in bamboo huts for 12 of us to sleep, a hole in the ground for the loo and red clay floors everywhere! very basic... but the kids are amazing, so so happy! and we got to teach for an hour at the schools, we both thought this was the best experience! Emily and Gur taught them animals, months, days etc.. and Alan and Brad taught them MATHS ! spelling and lots more... so great! there all really good at English its an eye opener!
in the villiages they cooked usa dinner and showed us traditional dances to join in and instruments and the traditional costumes they wear! it was a very hard 3 days and we were all muddy, sweaty and stunk with no clean clothes but was so worth it! after trekking it back to Chang Rai where we are now, we all went out for Belinda birthday to a really cool underground rock bar with mats to sit on and a guitar singer guy, was so good and ten we hit the Thai club! was definatley an experience, hardly spoke english, lady boys in the girls loo but everyone of the group gets on really well so was the best night so far! Emily felt it this morning (!)
Today we went to visit the border of Thailand which is the most northern part, where the golden triangle is and this splits Burmer, Lao and Thailand by the Mekong River we caught a boat to Lao and got the passports stamped, whooopee! did some MORE shopping, Emily is addictited to say the least! we visited the Opium museum which was interesting and finally got CLEAN CLOTHES!!!!
