Got picked up on a bus (a bus! We were so worried it would be a lorry / motorbike / elephant because you really never know!) and now we're making our way to Halong Bay. It's a 3.5 hour trip from Hanoi on some pretty bumpy roads but there's some amazing scenery along the way. Our tour guide is great, really friendly and the other people on our tour seem great, mainly Australians and Canadians some of who now live in Cambodia / Vietnam. Just met a nice lady who loves in Cambodia and volunteers as a teacher, she said that Cambodia is more underdeveloped than here but the people are much friendlier...(maybe we won't get scammed everywhere?!) she recommends Ankor Wat and Nhom Phen (I have no Internet at the moment so the spellings of said places will be terrible). Vietnam has been fun but hard work so far, you start to feel like you can't trust anyone as everyone just wants money out of you (we agreed a price for this trip and paid only to be told the next day that we had to pay $40 more otherwise they would cancel). Once we got on the coach and heard all about the trips we are doing in Halong Bay it was the first time we've felt completely relaxed....fingers crossed this will go well!
