Suzies Big Holiday :)
just read the message board and ive been motivated to update - so just for you guys ill postpone getting dinner...
Right i think last time i was going to Sallys is that right- wel i went and it was great, theyve got a really kool house in the middle of a busy part of bangkok- a little haven really- very laid back and relaxed- little Mala is a real joy. It was definitly an added bonus to get to spend time with people who know whats going on- Sally and Zor min really went out of their way. Their jobs are proper interesting and i think sit and listen to all the stuff for ages- thai/burma etc , even getting to read the paper their was interesting- no one moaning about the trains or anything. Sally told me loads of kool dishes to order too, the street food here is awesome- papaya salad and this thing called morning glory, kom de klum or somthing like that i duno- the food here is soo healthy really- and properly tasty! Cabbages and Condoms - resturant i would recomend big time, the guy who runs it started by tackling HIV by giving condoms to people who visited his cafe, its kinda escalated and now it s afull on amazing restaurant. Also went to the chatachak market and went to the kool park with the areobics! 5pm everyday people just rock up and do aerobics for free, bout 200 there maybe- reckon i would get that number at the Rec?! i think not. these people have the right idea im telling you!
So o sunday got a train up to chiang mai which is in the north- right little party train- hooked up with a tour group and found the bar on the train, its amazing- i reckon the thai people would properlu sort out the underground- no more miserable commuters.Bar/restaurant and some crazy dutch people windows open flying through the jungle with the music blaring- crazy!
my seat was near a lovely thai family and a couple of thai girls who i chatted too, the little baby was called 'oooo' - love it! it hardly cried at all in 12 hours amazing. anyways would recomend the thai transport system, - way better that the solvinia- croatia tain guys! lol!
Pai is where i am now- skipped through chaing mai to try and get closer to the environment- well i have- got this right little rickety bus 3hours out to Pai, it probably wasnt rickety until te first journey on these roads- the driver was a god as he clearly new every turn and bump, left right left right, got here eventually.
Pai is i think the most laid back place on earth- its almost asleep and its seems a lot of westerners have just given up travelling and moved in. im trying hard to be tHAt laid back but im kinda of quite an active person and its hard. i have to admit the random hugs from people who are reading your mind is a bit disconcerting but you get used it - these where australian people by the way. Today i had breakfast next to a guy buying a bong. Some people look quite out of place but i think nothing will surprise me now. Got on my moped up to the elephants after breakfast and went for a two hour ride- awesome. He was soo cute i love him they gave me the small one tho to be fair he was big enough- i wouldnt recommend going down hill on one bareback there is nothing to hold on to and i slipped forward and sat behind his ears-it was safer. we had a wash in the river but he just wanted to swim off, i played splashing with him but he just wanted to go under the water he was small enough to float which is a bit amazing and the guide had to stop him from swimming away.
got back and met the mind reading australian who told me he'd met me in a past life and told me the best place to get a thai massage- i was bent in every which way possible, it was alright but not amazing, still dont think im quite used to doing nuthing and i will have to slow down and adopt the thai way although tomorow thinking of going whitewater rafting down to a place called mai hong son.
the scenery up here is really amazing but now i kinda want to see the tribes and get out of the crazy hippy place. you can take a girl out of the city but you cant take the city out of the girl- i could try but it might take 6months. never say never hey.
lots of love
suz
