A quick check in
Mpraeso, Ghana
Hi everyone!
Hope you are all well at home! This is the first time we have managed to access the internet and unfortunately they have removd the USB drives, so we can't upload any videos or photos until we get home!
Our first week has flown in, but we also feel like we have been here for ages!
When we first arrived here, we got taken through Ghana in the dark which was an experience! They don't have street lights and many of the roads are INCREDIBLY rocky! It was strange to see the locals carrying their goods on their heads and the amount of goats wandering about.
On our first day we got taken on a tour of the area and went on a boat ride on the largest man made lake in the world. We visited one of the project schools and the children went crazy when we arrived. They were jumping all over us and were so keen to get photos taken. It was all pretty overwhelming!
Since then we have worked in a couple of schools and yesterday all the volunteers visited a remote village where we handed out packages of food, worming tablets etc. They were so grateful for the tiny things we gave them. The Queen Mother of the village gave us a drink of the local liquor,,,,it was 95% alcohol and VILE!!! However, it was seen as rude if you didnt take it. We then visited where thjey got their water from, to drink and clean. It was filthy and full of flies. We gave them a water filter vefore leaving.
Anyway, better scoot! Hopefully be on again soon! x
