Saturday we all woke up a little late and had an amazing French breakfast of croissant, baguette (fresh from the bakery downstairs) and cheese.
We need to get some bits so we headed to the supermarket and our shopping basket consisted of 5 bottles of wine (one being 1.5 litre bottle), 5 bottles of mustard dressing, cheeses and foie gras.
For lunch we all fancied something from our roots and had some dhall pouri and gateaux piment. Even though I was in the capital city for the most amazing food in the world - I really enjoyed this Mauritian delight and showed my appreciation by devouring it.
The journey back was very interesting! I did have a little snooze at the back of the car (a habit I've unable to break since childhood) I woke up to us cutting through Bois de Boulogne which is a big forest near the centre of Paris and is known to be the place where hookers hang out for business. This was a strange concept for me as I saw these women (not quite sure if some of them were) hanging out between the trees waiting for clients. There are these big transit vans parked on the road to where the "transaction" take place. We actually saw one of these transaction take place around 6pm, still daylight with a lot of people around. So strange!
We started to get ready for the evening, we prepared some French snacks that consisted of foie gras, cheese board, bread, chicken goujons and a surprise sandwich block. Nuv and Menita's friends Sandy and Hansley joined us to help us with the bottles of wine and food!
Around 11pm we caught the metro to Grands Boulevard and headed to the Cafe Oz bar! I have to say the music was amazing. My first drink was an ozzy and vodka (basically red bull) and we all started dancing! Typical me wanted to be more in the crowd so we moved towards the main dance area and it was packed! Never sweated so much but couldn't stop dancing.
Walking to the toilets was interesting and it's amazing how the French men think it is ok to grab you - I have never been pulled in so many directions and it was almost like an obstacle course getting to my destination.
On my behalf, my cousin requested for Gangnam Style (to which I still sing 'open condom style') and when that song came on it was hilarious to see everyone do the horse dance inc ourselves!
When we finally left the bar around 3:30am (I kept wanting to stay as some good songs were coming on) getting a cab was virtually impossible. We were trying our best to flag one down and also we were all quite peckish so we had a challenge to find food and a cab. We had found a van making fresh crepe which was amazing and got talking to a guy from Balham but spoke French really well after being there only 2 weeks.
We all congregated at a bus stop, it was around 4:15am and freezing. It looked like we may had to wait for the metro to open at 5am to get home. As you can imagine I was not to please with this possibility and so I tried my hardest to get a cab, to which one weird incident where a cab stopped with two male passengers at the back, to ask if I wanted to join them. I politely declined this offer and kept persisting to ask and wanted to know where I was from. I said no thx as I am not interested and he was getting annoyed to which point I raised two fingers and in an unladylike way told them to F@ck off. We came to the point where we nearly lost hope - a taxi stopped and we managed to get home for around 5am!
