Safely in Amsterdam. Awesome weather on the first day. Of course, right after I spend hours on Skype with my family complaining about the bad weather, it's hot hot hot. I have a lovely farmer's tan.
We rented bikes, which is the only way to get around. Everyone rides bikes. To get to work, shop, or go out at night. Well, needless to say, I am not good at riding bikes around lots of people. Before reading any further, let me tell you I was not seriously injured... I fell right in the beginning... then I hit a car.... then I fell down again. Again, I wasn't seriously injured, but I did sit on the steps outside the hostel and compare booboo's with a two-year-old. Any, we went to the Heineken Brewery and Anne Frank's house.
Today we went on a FREE walking tour. Really cool. I learned about public urination. Haha. In Amsterdam, you have to pay to use most bathrooms. So they erected little walls up that you can pee behind in random locations. Awesome. They also have a problem with drunk guys trying to pee in the corners of the building, so they put pee reflectors (yes, I did say pee deflectors) in the corners of the building. I guess that no matter where you pee on the contraption, it will come back in your face. I'm obviously not able to try this, so I can't vouch.
Now we are just hanging out at the Hostel. We need to get up early and head to Belgium.
