madrid es muy bueno. so.... ive been to my fair share of cities, and many of them claim that they never sleep. this is only because they have never been to spain. madrid truly never does sleep... really. i also spent one unplanned night in barcelona after missing my connecting train to madrid. barcelona was very charming and i wish i could have spent more time exploring, but i at least left a reason to come back. madrid on the other hand is out of control. the first night i spent here, i arrived at 10pm. no worries though, the party doesnt start till after 12. so, mo and i went out to this brazilian club called oba oba. it was a bit strange at first, but after a few drinks i found myself in the center of the dancing action receiving brazillian dancing lessons from all the locals. what a mess. basically the bars here run shifts. one will be open early in the night and stay open till maybe 1 or 2 then, you have the later clubs like oba oba that stay open till 6 or 7 am and then there are other bars that run the early shift from 2 to 9 am. so, after a good night on the town, your drunk ass could be riding the metro back home surrounded by businessmen in suits heading off to work. madness. anyways, mo and i went to bed at about 7 am but......it was really only 6 because the time change. sahweet! and extra hour to party before bed. so, on sunday we didnt get up till lunchtime (which by the way is at about 3:30 in spain) and then ate lunch and headed to the bullfights. the last one of the season. i will post pictures of this. at first, it is a bit strange, but after they get through a couple of bulls, i really got into it. then after that, we headed to this park, where they have a drum circle going all day. everyone brings their percussion instruments and plays music, while the spectators are busy passing around joints and booze, getting f***ed up and dancing. its pretty sweet. after that, we went back home where eva and i spent the night drinking wine and playing guitar and telling stories in foreign languages using mo as a translator. pretty cool. thats about it. my european adventure is coming to a close and it feels like it just started last week. i will post again when i get back to paris tomorrow, so check back soon
