We left home in Melbourne Australia for the airport at 6:45am (eww!) and arrived there at around 8am, said goodbye to my mum and grandmother and then headed into the International Departures lounge. We boarded the plane around 11am and I was very surprised at how new and well equipped it was. It has loads of leg room and an absolutely fantastic entertainment system for us to use. Our plane left late but the journey was quite smooth and enjoyable. The only thing that went wrong was the fact that we didnt get to choose what meal we wanted for lunch so were left with a spicy thai dish instead of something nice that we might have been able to eat such as the chicken! Haha Over the 8 hour plane ride I played some games with Daniel like Trivia and listened to some music albums before watching the following 5 movies:
- Post Grad - funny comedy about graduating college and trying to find a job
- My Sister's Keeper - very sad film yet not as good as the book
- Monsters Vs Aliens - a litle bit of fun
- Alvin & the Chipmunks - old favourite of mine!
- The Time Travellers Wife - better than expected
When we arrived in Thailand we were greeted by our tour guide to take us to our hotel at Patong Beach - The Deevana Pationg Resort & Spa. The drive over was very eye opening and completely dangerous as there seems to be no road rules or speed limits and people on motorbikes everywhere with no helmets or even shoes!
When we got to the hotel I must say it is totally amazing!! It is very beautiful and in a great quiet location so I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying on Patong Beach. After settling in the room we went out for a walk on the Main Street to look for some food. After being haggled by numerous places to come inside and eat we chose a small Thai food place close to the hotel entrance. We had some rice, sweet & sour chicken and garlic bread (all not very nice) and I had an orange juice that was hot and gross so I wouldnt eat here again.
After dinner we went back to the hotel where I had my first Mai Tai cocktail in HI! Bar. It was ok but a little strange tasting at first. We then headed back to the hotel room where I crashed out as soon as my head hit the pillow even though it was so incredibly HOT! All I can say is thank god we have ar-conditioning!!
