We only spent one night here and given how spoilt we are with beaches on the sunshine coast, Negombo beach was a little disappointing. We known there are beautiful beaches on the island, but they are on the east coast. We are hoping to visit Arugum Bay, which is apparently where all the surfers go, when we go on our second tour of the south of the island, starting Sunday. This week has been a lunch and dinner every day with family.
The photo is of the view from the balcony of our room. The sand at Negombo is very coarse and orange. On our way in to Negombo, I saw an entire grove of palm trees bent at 45 degree angle about half way up. We drove past too quick to take a photo. At Negombo, six of us had a full seafood dinner, lobster, crab, prawn, fish for around 100 AUD total for five people. I found some of it a touch salty, but it's a question of taste, as dad really liked the saltiness. Dad also found two wooden elephants, each about two feet high, that he bought. We had already arranged to ship some of our purchases back. As great a time as it is, there are definitely some things I'm missing about Australia, namely road rules!
