I'm now back on the bike after an unwelcome break and very glad to be continuing my journey.
Following Che Guevara's trail was fantastic. To be totally alone in the exact spot where he was shot and then the laundry room where has was laid out for the world press to gloat over was extremely powerful. I had to go to a sweet little old ladies house to get the key to the school house where it happened, there were no guards or roped off areas, it was all exactly the same as in the old newspaper cuttings...except for a little grafitti.
The salt flats were another great experience and possibly the most incredible place I've been to on the planet..!! Difficult to describe but incredibly peaceful and very very ......salty !! Having met another couple of bikers out there we took the obligatory silly optical illusion photos and camped overnight on the flats kept company by a few bottles of wine and a blazing camp fire. A one time , never forget experience.
I am now in Chile after a few little hic-ups in the dash for the border including a couple of flat tyres , getting stuck in a muddy river bed and having to be be towed out of the sand.
Chile is already proving to be a wonderful country full of typical South American hospitality and rich colourful scenery.....
I love this place ....!!!
Bye for now...
cheers, Mark x.
