Was at the airport shortly after 1am for a 5am flight. Did not get any sleep at all the previous night because of the odd hour for the airport transfer. The Delhi airport is much more modern than the other Indian airports. I bought a novel and started reading.
The flight to Abu Dabhi on Etihad Airlines was about 3 hours 15 minutes. The Abu Dabhi airport looked quite modern but when I eventually got the boarding gate almost all the seats were occupied and there was no intercom system to announce boarding. I just found a seat and did not get up until shortly before boarding was due to begin. It was interesting to hear South Africans talking after a long time.
Flight from Abu Dabhi to JHB was 8.5 hours. I could not sleep at all so it became the longest flight I have ever experienced. I managed to finish the 448 page novel I had bought that morning and watched several episodes of Big Bang Theory and The Middle.
