Decided to be brave and took a train ride over an hour long to see the USS Iowa in Long Island. Train does most of the journey overland so you get to see the suburbs. Made sure I was up at 7am so that I could be at Hollywood Boulevard by 9am to catch the first double decker tour bus. They have 5 or 6 different routes but recommend you only try to do 2 a day as they take so long. The metro trains do not go to Santa Monica. Had a 7.30am flight so I had to get up really early as the airport shuttle pick up was at 4.30am. I had less than 4 hours sleep the previous night. Arriving in LA, the weather was cool and cloudy.
