Decided that Amsterdam at the weekend could give us problems finding a campsite. Checked out the map and headed for an area of national parks about an hour from Amsterdam. Near a town called Deventer.
Top tip: When ordering food from a menu you can't understand it's a good idea to ask the waiter to go through it in English with you…. If he tells you 'this is a beef steak sandwich' just remember to ask him if the beef steak is cooked before you order it!
Yep… Sarah got a lovely raw mince steak sandwich for lunch! ( actually, I got the raw beef sandwich….she ate my ham & egg sandwich….it was quite nice really).
Picked well this time and the campsite is lovely. The most amazing loo block so far this trip. It's got baby baths (pity I can't fit in one, I'd love a bath), family showers so you don't have to wait for your turn with the shower gel and piped music while you pee!
Decided to hire a couple of bikes with proper sized wheels (ours are about this size of buggy wheels) and cycled, between rain showers, to the local town about 4km away. Cycling is bliss….there are no hills, everywhere is flat as a pancake.
Not holding our breath but there is more blue sky than cloud this afternoon and the weather forecast for tomorrow is good. Have booked our site in Amsterdam online as there are only two within a reasonable bike ride of the city centre.

They went shopping and I knew by the smell that they came back with sausages in their bag. They made me wait though but they were worth it. I'm quite content and I know there are more in the fridge!
