It was a day of delays. Just before we left Oz I got a ticket for speeding which arrived after we left. The car is in Pete's name so he wanted to assign the points to me. Cameron rang for us and they said we needed to get the stat dec notarised here and faxed to them. After an abortive attempt to get it witnessed at a bank - we'd been told any bank will do it but not if you're not their customer it seems - we set off for the nearest BMV (local version of dept of transport) to get it witnessed. We then returned to the hotel who had said they'd fax it for free cos they felt bad we'd missed breakfast after being told it went til 10 which it did on the weekend but today was Monday so arriving at 9.10 we'd been told it was all over.
The hotel tried a few times to fax it to no avail. She even rang the number to see what happened on the Oz end, all she got was a ringing phone, no fax buzz so that explained the fax not going through. Around midday we gave up and sent a pic of the notarised form to Cameron and asked him to attach it to the fine with a cover letter and hope that gets the job done.
So off we went heading not too far today to Somerset Pa. We came to a sudden stop when not far along the day's journey we came to where a car had burst into flames. The road was all shut down for half an hour or so while the fire dept came and extinguished the flames but not before it blew up! All very time consuming but kind of exciting all the same.
We crossed a big bridge at East Liverpool and we were then briefly in West Virginia before crossing into Beaver County Pennsylvania.
Some interesting signs we saw today: Soggy Bottom Taxidermist, Tippiecanoe St, Hillbilly Bar & Coon Sports Shooters Club.
We meandered a bit on back roads through Pa until we got to Somerset. On the map it's a little under a three hour drive, in our usual style it took us five and a half.
We checked into our hotel before heading out for dinner and then settling in for the night.
