After an early night we woke early feeling far more human. We hit the freebie breakfast of coffee and toast. Shopping is on the list for today to get some food in so we can have our usual low carb high protein kick start from now on but for today it did the trick.
It's another gorgeous summers day, sunny and 30C early on, rising through the day to 38C. It's mostly clear but with a bit of a haze over the city from the wild fires.
Driving around having a nosey in our neighbourhood we spotted our first nutter of the day; an older guy out for a walk with a bowler hat and Cape, as you do lol
Deciding to hit up the LA farmers market we set off. Our ever trusty GPS told us there were hold ups on our route so we took its alternate route. I'd hate to think how slow it would've been on the original route cos it was very slow the way we went lol. Classic LA traffic jam! Ah well us gave us plenty of time to check out everything along the way. We passed some interesting buildings and highway art including the concrete etchings of a Spanish mission, mission bell and palms; all classic symbols of SoCal.
The farmers market was very different to the amazing one we went to in Dallas, a bit more yuppy. For all that there was some great food to be had, we picked up a great looking piece of beef for dinner. For lunch we grazed on jambalaya, some Chinese roast pork and fresh delicious fruit.
After lunch we hit the highway again and headed out to Pasadena still looking for the illusive GPS dash mat.
Pasadena looks as if it's nearly melded with LA on the map but feels far less big city. It's very green and far less hustle and bustle than LA.
We eventually found the dash mount we were looking for in Montebello, did some grocery shopping including some amazing summer fruit. We got some huge nectarines and peaches for .89c/lb to add to yesterday's blueberries and cherries. Gotta love this time of year
