Monsoon Madness!
I have finally torn myself away from the none stop party island of Ko Phi Phi and sailed back to Krabi on mainland Thailand.
My final day was one to remember. I decided to join my Danish friends on a boat trip around the island. I had already been to Maya Bay, the lagoon & monkey beach, however this trip was supposed to include shark point. Unfortunately due to the conditions at sea we were unable to visit shark point.
I did however see monkeys this time on monkey beach, which was thoroughly enjoyable. Monkeys must be well up there with the meerkat as one of the funniest animals.
The journey to Krabi this morning could have gone better. I woke up, once again feeling a little fragile from the previous nights beach party.
I managed to pack up my backpack and walk down to the pier in the sweltering heat.
In typical Thailand timing, the ferry was running 30 mins late, which meant I was sat at the pier in 30degree heat constantly falling asleep thanks to the anti motion sickness tablets I'd just taken.
When the time came to board the boat, the monsoon season played it's part by suddenly pouring it down. Unfortunately there wasn't time to board the boat and we were drenched. Add to that an air conditioned boat and it's a surprise I didn't catch pneumonia!
Thanks once again to the sea sickness tablets, I slept for the majority of the boat ride. Before I knew it I was in Krabi and checked into the Good Dream guesthouse (at £3 a night I don't care what it's called).
Unfortunately as the weather has been a bit hit & miss, I've not had much time to explore. I instead used this day for a bit of 'me' time and just relaxed.
Tomorrow morning it will be time to say goodbye to Thailand and goodbye to Chang larger for the final time on this trip. Langkawi in Malaysia will be my next destination.
I feel pretty sad to leave, however I'm sure I'll be back with a vengeance another time.
