Well our second day in Sweden was a busy one for the girls with hair and dress appointments in two different towns.
I started the day with an early walk around the town. It was even quieter than normal. One of the most noticeable things about Sweden is the quiet, dignified, almost serene atmosphere. The people seem very relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings. There is much more emphasis on walking and cycling as modes of transport than in other cities. As a result the general population look much slimmer and healthier than other places I have visited. My early impressions of Sweden are very favorable indeed, very much the sort of place I would like to live though not so sure about the weather!!
Just before midday we all drove to Angelhome where we had a beautiful lunch in a very quirky restaurant. Good healthy food and just the right amount. I watched everyone else have wine or beer while I had a sparkling water ( the drink driving laws are very strict here) After lunch we strolled through the main street window shopping until 3pm when Emma and Anna had a hair appointment. While they were in the hairdressers we had a walk down to the river and onto the park. The park was full of families playing, looking at the birds and animals, riding on the train or watching the children's traditional theatre. We returned to the hairdressers where we had left the girls to check on progress before leaving Henrik at his hairdressers and then took a break at a coffee shop to wait for them all to finish. We then all headed off to the dress makers for Emma's dress fitting. Once the fitting was over we decided to take a stroll around the village of Bastad which is normally a village of five thousand people but for these two weeks it swells to ten times that for the Swedish Open (tennis) All the 'beautiful' people flock there to be seen and some even go for the tennis!
Restaurants were all full up so we returned to Helsingborg and had a nice Thai dinner in a restaurant less than one hundred meters from our apartment (great I could have a beer or two as well)
