Buenos dias la ciudad bonito de Cancun!! Or was that L.A.???
Ohhh I know, all you Cancun lovers who stayed in 5 star hotel resorts loved the city but I was NOT in a 5 star hotel. I stayed in a hotel called "The Carillos Lobster Hotel" off the main hotel strip in Cancun. Certainly not the worst hotel but definitely not what most of you are thinking when you think of Cancun. There was also no signs of anybody celebrating Spring break like I was expecting.
The first day in Cancun was our final supper with the former tour group. So as of yesterday morning I've been more or less on my own in Cancun. I made the best of it because the tour leader stayed behind with me, so we decided to go to Isla Mejeres together which is a touristy island about 30 mins by boat off the coast of Cancun made famous for it's beaches and markets. We started off by renting ourselves a golf cart to explore this little islands. We took turns driving around and we had a blast!! There's something special about weaving though the crowds and taking corners at tops speed with a golf cart!!! Reminded me of my cousin Mario's wedding! Ahhh yes, good times ;)
Mid-way through our visit on the island my buddy and ex-tour leader had to leave to meet up with our new tour leader to exchange some papers/documents.
I decided to stay on the island a little while longer on my own. It was fun to explore the markets, walk along the beach and have a beer and people watch. I didn't want to go swimming cuz I didn't have anybody to keep an eye on my stuff. Meh... Not that I cared.. I was enjoying the alone time in this little paradise away from the main land :))
I also bought some souvenirs there for some ppl whom will remain nameless ;) Little stuff.. just because I don't want to lug anything big with me... I still have two weeks to go, you know!?
Now I know, when I got back from the island and posted on Facebook that I was "bored in Cancun, on Skype" a lot of you guys were disappointed that I wasn't trying harder to find something exciting to do.. truth is, I have spent the last week with 13 people and it was nearly impossible to get some alone time to be on Skype and chat with my friends back home. There I was after having spent a day at the beach and I was in my hotel room ready and willing to chat it up. Thank god my mom at least, took the opportunity to chat with me instead of b****ing at me via Facebook (yes I am looking at you) so I was happy about that! lol :)))
I also took the time to catch up on some much sleep. I've been burning the candle at both ends for a while now an I was exhausted!
I was awoken a from a deep sleep a few hours later by my NEW roommate!! A guy called Don from Edmonton and who is apparently in love with Stephen Harper lol ohhh man, we are gonna get along I'm telling ya, he's a bright shinning example of Canadiana in the prairies! I'm gonna want to suggest he just move to the f***ing US if he loves them so much! lmao! Anyway I'm going to have to seriously bite my tongue to get along with this guy. He doesn't know that I've debated with the real deal.. his BS doesn't fool me. lol
That was me venting :D Thanks for listening people ;)
Ok so last night our new tour leader Rebecca, old tour leader Anselmo (Al), a few people from the old group and new guy Don (Harper) went out for supper for a meet & greet. I had the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet as per a suggestion from a friend (Julie L) back home who felt I should try it. So I did and although the fish wasn't bad... squid is just gross!! The look the texture.. Squid should always be battered and deep fried! It looked alive ion my plate lol! gross. But all in all it wasn't as bad as I thought. Freshness matters when it comes to seafood I think.
This morning I meet the other two people joint the group. Felix and Sandra, a good lookin' couple from Germany. They seem nice bit I haven't had much of a chance to talk them. I just know that Felix is a landscaper. A good sign as I like talking to people who understand what a hard days work is like ;)
Ok NoW I'm on the bus making my way to Chichēn Itza! One of the 7 wonders of the world... OF THE WORLD!! Doesn't get much better then this. :))
I'll take tons a pictures! :))
And as usual I miss you all. I'm a little more then half way through my trip now. I realize now that 4 weeks away when you've never been anywhere is along time. lol
Adios me amigos!
