Ola me amigos!
I'm now writing from a seat on bus on my way to the next destination... Playa Del Carmen!!!
Yesterday was a day of for me alone. The entire group (minus me, of course) went snorkeling. And from what I hear it was awesome, but I kinda thought to myself that I had already experienced snorkeling the day before when I had to go snorkeling to retrieve the fishing reel handle I had dropped into the ocean. lol I figured that was enough. Also snorkeling seemed expensive.
It was cool cuz I got to sleep-in till 8ish, which doesn't sound late but in the land of Central America where you have roosters, monkeys, wild dogs and crazy alarm sound making birds... it was an accomplishment!! Then I headed towards a breakfast place and had coffee, eggs, bacon and homemade toast and jam.. the jam was gross, but I ate it anyway lol
ok and here's the interesting part. All along this trip as you can imagine I've been looking for suitable souvenirs for everybody (except you! so don't expect nothin' lol) and I've been getting some stuff for me too. Yesterday I was looking for a necklace for myself and some lady sold me a colorful one. Although after buying it, I seriously wasn't sure if it suited me.
A little while later, I was walking by a booth run by a young guy (about 25 yrs old). He was wearing blue. He pretty much straight-up asked me where I got my necklace, so I told him this nice lady down the street who was a really good salesman sold it told me. He says, "it looks gay!" hahaha! Man I laughed so hard!!! I loved his bluntness... He traded it with of his for discount. He was cool so we ended up chilling-out and he introduced me to his friend, who was wearing red and ran the booth next door, a burrito place. !
After talking for a short while I offered to buy them a few beers. They agreed, so I ran across the street and got us few beers at the local store. We drank, we talked and smoked some. Then we drank some more! All the while sitting at this guys booth where he sold jewelry mostly. I tried to help him sell stuff, unsuccessfully.
As time went on they really kind of got to like me. Then again maybe they liked the beer I was buying them. In any case, at one point they explained that the one guy was part of the "Bloods" and the other was part of the "Crips" and how in Caye Caulker they can hang out, on the main land they wouldn't or couldn't ever be seen together. I wasn't shocked because they ttally had gangsta' writtin all over them! The cool thing for me is that they were both telling me, "You're cool, you're cool man." lol It was a blast!
Yup... so I made friends with gangsters yesterday :D lol
Well at the same time I was befriending the people who were coming around the booth. At one point this nice girl came around the "bloods" burrito booth, so I started talking to her and she introduced herself as Lia. Obviously I started to think about Lia, Lia.. my old friend who hardly says anything to me anymore except to 'like' my fb status from time to time... (I forgive you :)) Well she totally reminded me of her too.. They had a similar look.
Well anyway, she was Jehovah. And somehow convinced me to go to one of there meetings!! I totally went. I figured, why not?? I like a good philosophical discussion now and then. Yup... it turned out to be less of a 'meeting', more like church! Ek. At the end of the thing the local Pastor came talked to me. We had a good good conversation from my point of you. I think I had almost convinced him to join the religion of Quantum Physics and to the idea that we create out own reality. ;) I know a lot of you would have loved this conversation!
After the church thingy the girl didn't seem to want to hang out with me anymore so I made my way to the local bar where I discovered that I lost my bank card!!!! Yay!! :D
I totally know where I lost it too! It was the day we arrived in Caye Caulker. I went to an ATM and left my card in the machine.
I love how life is like that box of chocolates Forrest Gump made famous ;) Cuz you really never know what your going to get. I started the day hanging with really nice gangster and ended the day with manipulative Jehovahs. :)))
So that was my day in Caye Caulker! Now I'm of to go play in Playa Del Carmen!!
