Everyone - we are going out Saturday night if you's fancy!
Right and back to the travels...
We drove from Noosa to Hervey Bay and stayed one night in a hostel and then onto Fraser Island the next day. We got the ferry to the Island and it was very quiet...
UNTIL...
We had booked what we thought was a luxury villa with a spa on the balcony - however the house was like a flash back from the 70's 80's Kez Gaz think of Brighton... The ants had over taken the kitchen and the brown water had taken over the spa.... Flash back of Cape Tribulation - Wendy nearly greetin mun! Enough was enough we never unpacked... I phoned down and got us switched to a hotel room saving 150 bucks (60 quid!). The hotel room wasn't a normal hotel room infact it wasnt a normal hotel... Everything was inside out!
Anyway back to the exciting stuff! We went and sunbathed in the afternoon and then headed out for some tea in the evening. Had crummy take away pizza and some fajitas... pretty rank infact - although we did find one amazing wine! The night was not lost when Wendy started talking to Patrick one of the reps on the island - Within ten minutes we were their new found friends, had another bottle of wine, two fresh glasses and we were heading to the jetty for a knock off! When we arrived all the reps from the island were there... no lights... just a wooden jetty going out into the ocean - it was like a scene from Dirty Dancing - Wendy loved saying 'Nobody puts baby in the corner' all night. After that we went to the Dingo Bar with another new found friend, a really nice older guy called Rodger... had quite a few drinks up there and got home about 11.30pm... naughty children!
The next day we were heading on our tour - oh my god... Wendy was hung over... not sick though... We arrived late... managed to get some toasties and everyone on the bus hated us... we were late first of all.. then they had to wait on us getting toasties, then we stunk the bus out of toasties... oh it went on,...
Anyway... the tour was a 4 Wheel Drive bus... with not much suspension... as there was not enough seatsa lovely lady called Sue gave Wendy her seat so she could sit beside me - how sweet... and Sue had to sit in the front with the driver - she later found out that that was the most bumpy seat on the damn bus! We walked through a really nice creek - cacked our pants when massive flies attacked us and a metre long eel was like - JUST THERE!!! We clung onto Sue for dear life... After that we headed along the beach a bit on the bus and us two, another nice couple from Stirling and Sue got on a very small plane... 6 seats!!! Wobbly!!! but very cool!!! Saw the island from above - lots of photos to come... LOTS!
Had lunch at a restaurant and the dingos were wandering about... STAND TALL... BACK AWAY... and this is where the messy stuff began!
We had a bottle of wine and Sue joined us!! What a laugh we had!! Then we were off to Lake Makenzie... totally amazing experience... the water was fresh water... the sand was an exfoliant... we exfoliated from top to toe and got loads of great pics.. the water was so warm 26 degrees - very nice... was our first bath in a month! Then we headed home arranged to meet Sue for some tea...
Went for tea - Stuart tried a Morton Bay Bug with his dinner!!! Had copious amounts of wine and ended up in Sues room for some gin!!! Sue if you're reading this - where the hell was the gin!
Next day we go the ferry back with a slight hangover and one very broken back! Stuart could hardly walk, could not bend, could not lift bags and certainly could not drive the 5 hours we were planning. Gracefully Wendy stood up to the task in hand and managed it all the many long miles down the coast to Byron Bay.
Saw a dog fight - cacked our pants...
Got a really nice room, a really nice tea and a really nice early night!
Today we are heading back up the coast to the gold coast for a night and then to Brisbane the next day...
Thats all for now folks...
Will put photos on soon!
