Hi Readers,
We've arrived, jetlagged but excited. Been a hectic first few days. The 27th was a mixed bag. Emma spent the day with her mother (on her 60th birthday) and the rest of the family. I witnessed 7 hours of humiliating cricket and Gooner drinking over 10 rum and cokes. The cricket was a good laugh as any hope of victory had long passed. Baiting Brett Lee was amusing and he took it well.
Mike and Gooner were in good spirits when I left for the 60th birthday party back at emma's mother's house. On arrival, emma was pleased with my relative sobriety and everyone was enjoying the close knit atmosphere of family and long-standing friends. This was shattered at around 9pm when gooner and mike turned up, univited, bearing a plastic plant and gift basket. All previous efforts at convincing the johgnstons of my worthiness for their daughter were wiped clean in one hit (and one game of I Have Never).
The absence f cricket gave us a free day on the 29th, which we spent in the company of some friends and family. Amanda, Anna and Mark for lunch in St Kilda, BBQ at emma's father's for mid afternoon in Camberwell, then back to St Kilda for a game of pool with fedders and dinner with erin, sophia, mike, gooner, emma and myself in the evening. Weather was beautiful.
After breakfast with Cassy and Dave, we have driven 2hrs into the country to Foster, where emma's mum and stepfather have a farm. Will spend new year's down here.
More to come later as we are off to the town market now - probably to be followed by a pint with Donk and some dog fighting if my understanding of the australian countryside are accurate.
Downloaded some photos into a melbourne album.
