Hello!
So we left New Zealand last weekend and got to Fiji. The flight was fine but the arrival at the airport was a lot of waiting for bags and queuing but we were met by our resort rep and they put us in a taxi to our place in Nadi (Beach Escape Villas). The place was fine and had a nice restaurant and the staff were very friendly, though the music from another resort kept us awake a lot of the night!
The next day we got the 7:00am bus to the ferry ready for our trip to the Yasawa Islands off the west coast of the main island. The ride out was smooth, thankfully, though the boat broke down so we had a 3 hour wait which was a bit of a pain! The first island was near the top of the islands we had a pass to go to, called Nanuya Lailai and we stayed for one night there. The ferry stopped and we were picked up in a little boat and taken to our island which was very exciting! The islands we passed on the way there looked great, especially the smaller ones which looked like a piece of sand with some trees, so small Stu could have swum round them we reckoned!
The first place we stayed was the most basic but we didn't know that at the time so thought it qas great! We stayed in a bure (which is the main type of double/twin accommodation here, a little hut/house with thatched roof).
I've realised I'm writing in far too much detail and most of you won't read this if I write much more so I'm going to explain in brief:
First island we walked to Blue Lagoon, which was in a film, very nice, good fish and blue starfish.
Next day went to Barefoot Logde near Naviti Island, our favourite place, even nice bure, lovely people, swam with manta rays which was sooo incredible, they are humungous!
Next day went to Kuata Island, even better accomodation, nice food, swam with white tip reef sharks, it was very sunny and hammocks were good. Stayed 2 nights.
Next island was only a resort called Octopus Resort. Was very high standard, quite western, 3 course meals in evening. Was nice but cloudy which was a shame and sea was quite rough.
Sat night got back to Nadi, stayed in same place.
Sunday relaxed by pool and the nice lady working there helped us book accommodation for this week. We travelled on Monday on local bus to Mango Bay Resort on the coral coast (south of Viti Levu. It's lovely here and we got upgraded to a safari tent which is very cool, we paid only half the price we should have done! Been swimming and sunbathing, lovely food.
Tomorrow we go to Tabukula Resort along the coast towards Nadi again and plan to go to a wildlife park. Stay there 2 nights then the last 2 nights in Nadi but at different accommodation in the mountains.
We can't believe we will be home in less than a week, we are sad! Especially me!
Bye, Stu has told me to say bye!!! love you all x x x x
