We headed to Petra from Al Karak and stopped on the King's highway at Wadi Mujib, to take some pics of the dramatic scenery. The Mujib Reserve of Wadi Mujib is the lowest nature reserve in the world, located in the mountainous landscape to the east of the Dead Sea, approximately 90 km south of Amman. The 220 square kilometre reserve was created in 1987. Maria naturally took advantage of the dramatic scenery to sip hotel coffee (pinched from breakfast) from her beloved flask whilst puffing leisurely on a much needed cigarette!!!
Stayed at the gruppo of all hotels, The Panorama, the 3rd best hotel in Petra. It had amazing views but God spare us from the groups as they are like plagues of marauding ants following the trail from one location to another...and heaven help you if you get in their way.Nice food made even tastier by the fact that we only paid taxes of 2.5 JD (£2.50) when we were expecting to pay 12JD each for dinner. We still don't know if dinner was included or if we just got lucky! We did, however, take the opportunity to load our bag with fruit, croissant and pastries from breakfast so we'd have something to munch on for the full day visiting Petra. So, we spend the nights staying in decent hotels then show our true colours by nicking the breakfast buffet for our lunch - ha ha ha.Well at least it gives us a little snifter of the real backpacking experience.
