Hej! i hiked up Santa Maria last week as planned, I'm very proud of myself. Started the hike at 12:00 at night and 3.5 hours later I was at the top in the freezing dark. thank you Vince and Agnes for the headlamp it was very useful. The thermals and the fleece became very handy at the top. Crawled into a sleepingbag, ate a sandwich while looking and hearing the volcano Santiaguito errupting. in the dark you could see the lava and the huge clouds. After an hour we watched the sun rise over the clouds and had a hot drink. Words cannot describe how beautiful it was up there. to see the shodow of Santa Maria was pretty fantastic. the hike down was worse than going up. My legs started to shake of exhaustion halfway down. Fell a few times which resulted in pulling my thighmuscle and made it harder to get down. At around 12.00 we arrived home, filthy of the sand, dust and VERY tired. Slept all day.. I was surprised the following morning that my legs were not so sore, I might be fitter than I thought.
Same crew are climbing Tajamulco on Saturday. it's the highest point in Central America. Don't know if I will go there or take a long weekend at the lake. the school s even more quit this week except for a group of Miami people that are causing trouble. My one year old host sister was baptisted (?) yesterday. Had a party with a pinata and cake. Was nice to go to a Guatemaltec fiesta. OOOOh. We visited a chocolatefactory last week, my goood what an experience. Best hot chocolate I have ever had. Just cocobeans and sugar, clean stuff.
been a little bit jelaous because Joey went onnhis second snowboard trip this weekend, but I heard about this volcano in Nicuaragua where ou can lavaboard which I'm definetely doing.
Going to sort out some info today for Mamma and Pappa about the school if you still want it. I'll try to write more often. Puss pa er allihopa!
