Working hard and enjoying the sights, sounds, tastes of Sydney. I am living in the CBD of North Sydney in an apartment that is a little pricey and does not have air conditioning. Moving to a new place in a week near a place called Darling Harbour. Turns out that it is near impossible to get a place because the demand for real estate, especially furnished executive apartments, is so high. I have requested to see apartments from multiple agents since I have been here and was only shown one apartment so far. The agents will let you view the apartments but will only show them for limited time, like 12:00 to 12:15 or like today, 5:00-5:15. You get to view the apartment with 5 or 6 others who are also ready to put down a deposit. But then again, these are pretty cool apartments.
I plan on putting up some photos over the weekend so hopefully you will see some nice views of the bay, a platypus, and a strange looking shark I saw at the aquarium in the harbour.
If you plan on visiting, save some money. About a year or two ago, the Aussie dollar was worth about .72 to .80 USD. Now it is close to .92. So that 3.00 coke I bought today at 7-11 was pretty close to 3 actual dollars. The real estate market is booming and it looks like the U.S. about two years ago. People are worried that the same thing is happening here as it did in the U.S. Scary. I think our housing boom might have broken the world's monetary system.
Next week I will go to Shanghai for work and I'll stay a couple of extra days since my new boss offered to let me hang out and have fun. I'll try to keep up with this blogging deal and get some pictures. Should be fun!
