Backtrack: arrived in Atherton Tablelands a few days ago (losing track of time) and had to stay in a shut down pub. It was closed for refurbishment and didn't have power for most of the evening. It was freezing as the upstairs had an open balcony. We failed at spotting platypus but did manage to spot tree kangaroos on a night canoe! Rachael rocked the headtorch look, almost as well as my Pa! The next morning we rented a grandad and played bowles! Kate stole the show with her 'different' technique but I did manage to get a few wins in - making my Gramps proud! Millaa Millaa falls was beautiful, just cold. Hair flick in the water was averagely successful - photos to come. Cairns was beautiful and Gilligan's was a great hostel. Even though it was crazy loud, we figured out it really doesn't prevent me falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The Great Barrier Reef was incredible; we went out on SilverSwift - the fastest boat there. As you would have seen from statuses and photos I dived, saw a shark, fed a high turtle and was it utter awe of the diversity and colour of the reef. Next day was a skydive and bungee. Breathtaking and s***scary. Well recommended.
Today I flew to Alice Springs, found some friends, did some laundry and got shouted and lunged at by an Aboriginal man...
Tour starts at 6am tomorrow. Let's go!
