Arrived in Ao nang on the 29th after 12 hours on a sleeper train, 2 hours on a coach and 30 minutes on a mini bus! But do you know what, it was well worth it! Got to the hotel about 10am and after a quick shower I hit the beach! It is so picturesque. The sun is shining, the sea is blue and the beach is amazing! After having a swim in the sea and little sunbathe, I grab some thai noodles in a restaurant on the sea front with Alli (my room mate) and we go for another Thai massage! The massage was amazing and was right next to the beach. The combination of the amazing massage, the beautiful sunshine and the sound of the sea made me relax enough to fall asleep and best of all it only cost 2 quid!!!!! Paradise!
That evening we had a home made bucket (mostly sansom) on the beach before heading to an Irish pub!? and finally to another bar down a dodgy road full of old men and ladyboys!!! Was a bit glad to leave that bar!
Next day was a full day tour to Phi Phi island! The early start and alcohol from the night before lead to me feeling a little fragile...not the best thing when you are about to spend all day on a boat! First of all the boat stopped at Maya Bay (where they filmed 'The beach') which was absolutely amazing until all the tour boats turned up and you couldn't move for tourist! After Maya bay we did a bit of snorkelling and I saw lots of beautiful tropical fish. The boat then took us to a secluded lagoon with crystal clear water for a quick swim before lunch on Phi Phi Dom. After lunch we headed to Bamboo beach, were I had a swim in the beautiful water and a sunbathe on the beautiful beach! Absolute paradise and I didn't want to leave!
Wednesday morning invovled half a day kayaking through a lagoon and through the mangroves! It was a bit tiring but was such good fun and we got to see some monkeys! After Kayaking, me and few others went for some lunch at a street stall before going for another massage...Bliss! The Afternoon involve an elephant trek through the jungle, for part of which I sat on the Elephants head and 'drove' (I think that is the right term)!! Needless to say, there was more then one occassion when I almost soiled myself ahaha! In the evening the whole group went out for a good old fashioned knees up at a bar with a fire show...a good night was had by all!
