Up and driving out the hotel carpark by 8.55. Unheard of for us. Can't believe how heavy our bags are considering we haven't really bought that much. Pretty much smooth sailing to Paris until we got to the airport and we had the same problem finding the car place as we did when we tried to pick it up. Obviously the roads have changed but they haven't reset the gps. Eventually consulted the map they gave us and that was simple. It's very frustrating when you can see where you need to be but just can't get there. Anyway it took all of 5 minutes to hand over car and they had a shuttle service to the train station. All too easy. Caught train to Gare du Nord and managed to score an express so arrived about 12.15. Only 4 hours to waste until Eurostar leaves. What a s***ty train station it still is. We had no idea it would be so easy so left ourselves heaps of time just in case of problems. Spent the next few hours eating, drinking and being entertained by the lady at the table next to us and her imaginary friends. Eventually time to leave so on Eurostar for the journey back. Even got a feed as in standard premium,(not that we needed more food). Arrived London and decided to brave the peak hour tube with our bags. No dramas and before we knew it we were on the train to Billericay. Arrived at the house about 7.30pm to be greeted by Danny and Laura. Great to see them again and have a catch up chat. Went down to The Checkers for a quick couple of pints before hitting the sack.
