After the excitement of Perth we decided to get away from it all with a Road Trip down the coast. The 1st car hire place we rung offered us an excellent deal on a Porsche Boxter !! I wish..... we ended up with a Hyundai Getz but it wasn't bad for 13 quid a day. After Tony and Myra had loaded the boot and the back seat of the car with everything bar the kitchen sink we set off. We had no map so we had to rely on my (Stephen) excellent sense of direction. We headed off for Rockingham a sleepy beach town 30km from Perth. It must have been small as we drove right through without noticing ooopps. We stopped off at Mandura Beach for lunch - a couple of the sandwiches in our picnic. Finally about 3pm we rolled into Busselton and booked 2 nights stay in a motel in the center of town - we were the youngest residents by at least 40 years. Busselton's claim to fame is the longest pier in the Southern Hemisphere, 2km later we had to agree. At the far end is an underwater observatry, quite good and less hassle than diving. Day 2 saw us go whale watching from a lookout on Geographe Bay, unfortunately 1 hour later no whales but some seals so worth the trip. Next Ngilgi Caves which were pretty good and finally off to the beach to use the Boogy Board that we had packed. Jo had a glass of wine at the local and has decided Margaret River is the next stop for the Wineries (hic !!)
