Hello Greece!
Well, after what seemed a very long ferry ride over here...I'm here and its wonderful, to say the least.
From Venice, I hopped on what I thought was a ferry, but ended up being a really cool Greek Cruise Line (one of the craziest experiences I've ever had, Greek people are hilarious!) I was soooo exteremely excited boarding the "Minoan Cruise Line" to my little Island of Corfu and I was certain that it was by some ingenious stroke of luck that I was paying only 16 euro to spend the next 29 glorious hours aboard this Grecian Paradise. As I acended the escalator to the main level of the cruise I began to picture what my wonderful 1 bedroom would look like with franch doors and fluffy white pillows like miniture clouds. (I had never in my life been almost salivating at the mouth at the thought of a room all to myself without the overwhelming and equally unwanted company of a snoring symphony or men over 40 who should not still be staying in youth hostels). As I handed my boarding ticket to the starch looking ticket taker I asked "And where is my room?" he sneered and responded, "You're on deck". He then pointed to a room full of backpacking imigrants such as myself who were racing to set up camp on the hard blue rubber surface that we were to sleep on. Unlike myself, they were well prepared and well-equipt. Air mattresses, slepping bags from REI and every other outdoor shop imaginable, hammocks, yoga mats, you name it they had it. I, on the other hand had a towel and...well ya, a towel. But, I wasn't about to let a little towel sorrow get me down. I was on my way to Greece and best of all I was on a cruise line to Greece, oh ya!
The qwest ended up being so wonderful. I met some great people and what was best NO ONE hardly spoke a word of english. So, we were left to a stary and salt-watery filled night of miming adjectives and verbs and playing guitars, trumpets and clarinets to fill the time. One of the best realizations and self-discoveries that I've made is that Music and Emotions are Universal and require no words and thats exactly what I want to do with my life, make lots and lots of music and share in all emotions. So, that said, I'm off to bed. BUT,tommorrow I will share the quirky and sometimes bizarre histarics of the Sunrock Farm Hostel which I am staying and working on right now, so stay tuned...
OPA!
