I'm worried my entries are starting to get boring since at the moment we're not doing anything exceptionally crazy! Just taking things day by day. But I want you to know what I'm getting up to anyway :) I've probably forgotten heaps since I'm half asleep but I'll note down the main things I remember!
On Thursday we decided to have a beer pong competition! It was heaaaaaaaaps of fun! We had to take some desks, coffee tables and so on from other peoples rooms but we managed to get enough and set them up in the hallway of our dormitory! We were pretty lucky since we expected it to be shut down really quickly since we were obviously being so noisy but we didn't! I don't think we even left our dorm until about midnight! I'm not really a fan of beer so I've started buying cordial and then I just mix a bit of it with my beer and it tastes amazing! Do notttt judge until you have tried it!
On Sunday we tried to be more touristy! We got up relatively early and headed to the Old Town part of Warsaw as there was a tour organised by ESN about communist Warsaw! However we didn't expect it would take so long to get there and we missed it :( I was really gutted but we still headed to the Rising Museum anyway which was soo interesting! On Sundays it is free so it was definitely worth checking out. We learnt heaps about Warsaw during the Nazi occupation, how people in the city were affected and also paid 2zl (about 65c) to watch a 3D movie which was like we were flying over Warsaw after it had been destroyed by the Germans. It's absolutely crazy how much of the area was totally wiped out!
On Sunday evening we checked out the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been in! It was suuuper fancy. It's very well hidden but when you realise where it is you are totally stunned - it's a huuuuuuuuuuuuge beautiful house that's been converted in to a restaurant! When you enter your coats are taken for you, there's a guy playing piano, beautiful flowers and staircases and multiple rooms. We had super tasty food, such as pancakes filled with spinach and almond flakes, salmon wrapped in cucumber, perogi, and the most beautiful wine (usually I HATE wine but this one I could drink away at with no issues!). For my main I ordered a green salad and I didn't realise it had meat in it! I thought there were mini croutons in it but after a few mouthfuls I realised it was little pieces of bacon, whoops! It tasted good but it made me realise I am happy being a vegetarian. It was good to know that meat isn't going to kill me though! THANK YOU DARREN! It was an awesome evening! :)
I now have a flat sorted for next year which makes me happy! I have been placed on the same street as Matt but pretty much right opposite the university! It's going to be such an awesome year :)
I'm sorry I'm being so boring with this entry but its midnight and I have had a busy day doing a big grocery shop, cooking, classes etc! But I wanted to give you all a quick update. On Friday morning I am heading to Krakow, then back to Warsaw on Sunday evening, but leave on Tuesday for Budapest! Then Bratislava, then Vienna! So it's going to be crazier next time! Apparently our Krakow trip will be full of awesome stuff like tram parties, visiting crazy salt mines, checking out Auschwitz, etccccccc. It will be such an amazing experience!
Something awesome I've noticed about travelling is that it's really cool watching movies since I recognise so many places now! Especially in the US! For example we watched a movie called Olympus has fallen or something and it's set in D.C, so it was cool knowing we had walked along a certain path or stood beneath a certain building.
Warsaw is still warm which is strange. I keep waiting to wake up and see snow but truth is it's still about 17c on average here! Central heating is definitely a huge challenge as it's always turned up so high… but I'm sure we will appreciate it more once it starts to finally get cold! I'm looking forward to investing in a big warm fluffy coat and toasty pair of boots :) I haven't been able to justify buying any yet since it's not actually cold!
Also for anyone reading this from Christchurch in New Zealand, my beautiful kitty has gone missing!! My family are absolutely heartbroken because for those who don't know - she is pretty disabled. She has epilepsy, is allergic to meat (therefore if she hunts and eats meat she will get super sick), needs injections every six weeks to stop her having allergic reactions to other things, half deaf so likely to get run over and so on! So pleaseeee if you see an ugly black and white cat in Pegasus area ring my mam straight away so we can see if it is her! She really, really can't survive in the wild :(
